STATE OF CONNECTICUT
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

Bruce L. Morris
Commissioner

June 21, 1991

To Whom This May Concern:

As the Director of Construction for the State Department of Public Works, I have had the pleasure of working with Lawrence Brunoli, Inc. over the last three (3) years. As is typical of all construction projects, the General Contractor is only as good as the quality of the contract documents. In Brunoli Incorporated's case, where the documents were of excellent to good quality, the contractor did an excellent job. Where the documents were of less than good quality, Brunoli Inc. was very much at the mercy of the Architect/Engineer of record. In all cases, Brunoli Inc., made every attempt to work out problems so as to finish the project in a successful manner for all parties concerned.

I would be pleased to have Lawrence Brunoli Inc. on any State project for which I was in charge.

Sincerely,

Whenever the name Brunoli appears in the press as low bidder on a public construction project, my reaction is that the owner and architect are likely to enjoy the process and be more pleased with the results than would be the case with other contractors who they might have had to deal with.

Re: Larry Brunoli, Inc., General Contractors

While Noyes Vogt Architects has not had a business relationship with Lawrence Brunoli, Inc., since its founding, my past experience with Larry Brunoli as an officer and part owner of Joseph Brunoli & Sons has been most positive.

We have always felt very confident in recommending the Brunoli Company to be included on a selected list of general contract bidders for our most demanding private clients such as the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, and the Southern New England Telephone Company throughout Connecticut.

We also have invited Larry to bid on other major projects, both in the private sector and for federal, state and local governments though he has not been successful on any of them recently.

Whenever the name Brunoli appears in the press as low bidder on a public construction project, my reaction is that the owner and architect are likely to enjoy the process and be more pleased with the results than would be the case with other contractors who they might have had to deal with.

Very truly yours,

Norman S. Baier, AIA

Norman S. Baier, AIA, recalls Lawrence Brunoli's successful management of four construction projects between 1974 and 1984, while Brunoli was a principal at Fred Brunoli and Son in Avon, Connecticut.

Original Letter Transcription

To Whom it may concern:

During the years between 1974 and 1984, Lawrence Brunoli (while a principal of the firm Fred Brunoli and Son, Avon, CT) served as Project Principal/Director on four successful projects for which we served as architects:

Renovation/Expansion of the Kellogg School Falls Village (Town of Canaan) CT

Simsbury Farms Recreation Complex Simsbury CT

Conversion of the Belden School into Town Offices Simsbury CT

Renovation of United Bank (now Fleet Bank) Granby CT

These projects were all completed within time and budget estimates to the mutual satisfaction of all parties.

Sincerely,

Norman S. Baier, AIA

Jeter, Cook & Jepson Architects — Hartford, CT

We found Lawrence Brunoli, Inc. to be cooperative and reasonable in both their performance of the work and their approach to changes or additional items which were found to be required. We generally found the work to be of good quality and found them also to be very receptive and responsive to the Owner’s scheduling requirements.

S. Edward Jeter

Camp, Dresser & McKee Architects — Hartford, CT

I have found the firm to be cooperative, particularly when it came to identifying cost saving measures to allow the project to be completed within the available budget. Their work is of good quality and has been completed to the satisfaction of the Town. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with Lawrence Brunoli, Inc. in the future.

Robert Peirent — Construction Manager

Jeter, Cook & Jepson Architects, Inc. — Hartford, CT

Our firm as Architects has known of and worked with the Lawrence Brunoli Company through the years on several building projects. We would without exception say that they have performed as general contractors with the highest level of professionalism and skill.

In particular, a project at Eastern Connecticut State University involved complex expansion of the main campus dining hall and kitchen, but with a limited budget. Through the Brunoli Company's efforts, we were all able to work together in an exchange of ideas that resulted in a finished building without the need to compromise quality or program needs.

All of our people greatly enjoyed working with Larry Brunoli and his staff. We as a firm would highly recommend the Lawrence Brunoli Company for any building program, especially involving complex renovations and additions where phasing, scheduling and budget adherence are prime concerns.
